Tigo Ayres brings Between Worlds and Memories to Brazil meets Gmünd 2025

From 26 to 28 September 2025, the city of Gmünd, Austria, will host another edition of Brazil meets Gmünd, one of Europe’s most prominent festivals celebrating Brazilian culture. Held biennially at the Stadtsaal of Schloss Lodron (Lodron Palace), the event showcases the richness of Brazil through music, dance, literature, visual arts, and gastronomy.

Renowned for fostering dialogue and cultural exchange between Brazil and Austria, the festival brings together artists, intellectuals, and audiences for a vibrant encounter where samba, forró, visual arts, and Brazilian storytelling resonate in the heart of Europe.

Tigo Ayres’ participation

In 2025, the festival gains a new highlight with the participation of visual artist, performer, and psychologist Tigo Ayres, who will present works from his acclaimed collection Between Worlds and Memories.

This series, exhibited in cultural spaces across different countries, explores themes such as identity, memory, spirituality, and multiculturalism, weaving together personal and collective experiences. His paintings — created with acrylic, oil, and mixed media techniques — evoke rich textures and symbols that reflect the heat of Northeastern Brazil, psychoanalysis, and rhythms of ancestral Afro-Latin traditions.

Through his presence at the festival, Tigo Ayres offers more than a visual exhibition — he presents a reflection on intercultural dialogue, resilience, and the search for reconnection with oneself and with the collective.

A meeting of cultures

Brazil meets Gmünd 2025 will feature a diverse programme including live music, dance workshops, children’s literature sessions, and festive nights with rhythms such as samba, forró, salsa, bachata, and kizomba. Each edition reaffirms the festival’s role as a bridge between communities, offering Austrian and international audiences a unique immersion into Brazilian culture.
